I have lived in Lancashire for a good part of my life and have lived in Euxton for the past 51 years. Retirement from my Civil Service employment gave me the opportunity to become more involved in the life of the village through being a member of the Parish Council and I was co-opted onto the Council in June 2014. Since retiring I have continued my interest in complementary medicine, as I had already qualified as a Reflexologist, before retiring from my full time job. I have enjoyed been able to obtain further qualifications in other holistic areas, such as Aromatherapy etc. My hobbies are upholstery (currently re-upholstering my daughter's chaise longue!), reading and photography. I enjoy walking our dog around Euxon's lanes, which I do every day and there is a wonderful variety of wildlife you can see - including deer! With the vast expansion of the residential areas in recent years within Euxton Parish boundaries, including large parts of Buckshaw Village, it is important that our green spaces are retained. I hope that Euxton can fight off the pursuit of ever-increasing need for more houses as I believe Euxton has absorbed enough new builds already.

Ian was co-opted onto the council in January 2020. Born in Lancashire and has lived in Euxton for the last 21 years. My four children all went to school in Euxton , two having finished university two still to go! I served as a governor at Balshaw Lane CP for 15 years and I’m a governor at Parklands this includes 6 years as chair. My spare time when not with my family is taken being a cub leader at Euxton Methodist group, walking my lab many miles round the lanes in the village and following Preston North End. I work for Tesco as an Area Manager looking after shops in Preston, Blackpool and Cumbria. I’m keen to do whatever I can to keep Euxton as a brilliant place to live.

Eric first joined the Council in November 2002. I was born in Preston and I have lived in Euxton for over 55 years. After leaving school I started work as an Apprentice Electrician at the then Royal Ordnance Factory on Euxton Lane. Going on to a varied career which included management experience in the Maintenance Department and later as a Production and Operations Manager. Since being made redundant at the end of 2007, I have been employed as a Project Manager for a security company in Liverpool. I would like to keep Euxton as a community where families can feel safe and enjoy life. I have a particular interest in the youth of the village, and it is here that I would like to improve the facilities that are provided for recreational use. The Skate park being an excellent example of what can be achieved with a little hard graft.

Our family has resided in Euxton since May 1996, and my motivation for the role is focussed on protecting and enhancing the neighbourhoods of Euxton whilst ensuring that we are well supported by the respective authorities which interact within our village. I have previously served as chair of the governors at Primrose Hill and an experienced Non Executive Director and Chairperson, for corporates, charities and not for profits. As I am now semi retired I have additional time to support my role as councillor and to serve on some committees. My interests are in Healthcare and Education and my career has been as a global executive, CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and CEO (Chief Executive Officer), which brings an inclusive approach and a broad experience in addressing challenges.

I have lived in Chorley for 45 years and recently moved to Euxton. Now I have finished running a multi national manufacturing business I have time to devote to local politics. My interests are brass bands, pickle ball, walking, environmental issues, reading and being involved with the Oil and Colour Chemists Association.

Andy was elected to the Parish Council in May 2018. Andy moved to Euxton from Yorkshire 20 years ago, initially intending to stay for 3 just years!! A proud Yorkshireman he has, nonetheless, made Euxton his home. As a longstanding governor at Euxton Primrose Hill Primary School and chair from 2005 to 2017 he steered the school to one of the best Ofsted inspection results in England in 2012. Andy was also a governor at Parklands Academy for 3 years. Recently he has ensured that the expansion of the school happened with minimum disruption to neighbours and preserved the schools’ culture and ethos. He brings a wealth of experience having been a local government lawyer and trade union branch secretary at West Lancs and Harrogate Councils and then lawyer and a switch to Strategic IT Management at Chorley Council before setting up a management consultancy in 2005. He is now a freelance business/data analyst working predominantly with major insurance companies. Andy has a keen interest in the public realm, especially open spaces and public footpaths and can be seen out and about in the village and surrounding countryside accompanied by the family’s young border collie, Charli. He is also keen to ensure that the local infrastructure including drainage, healthcare, schools, policing and communications has adequate capacity to meet the needs of the ever increasing demand for housing and businesses in the parish as well as protecting the village rural aspect and heritage. He lives with Alison, his partner of almost 30 years, and they have an Euxtonian daughter at Aston University. Andy has a keen interest in rugby league, cricket, theatre, family history and pub quizzes (he is a 1/3rd of the “Screwed Up” quiz team at the Bay Horse). Andy is, by his own admission, totally obsessed with the rock band The Who.

Rebecca was co-opted on to the Council in October 2020. He has previously served on the Council for period of 25 years until May 2018. I have lived in Chorley since 1992 and in Euxton since 2001. I’m married to Ian with two adult children aged 23, both attended Euxton Primrose Hill Primary School where I volunteered during their time at the school. My husband and I took early retirement in 2017 to enjoy a more balanced lifestyle and to support our ageing parents who also live in Euxton. I worked for Barclays Bank for 25 years working all over the North West in branches and central offices. I then accepted Voluntary redundancy to become a School Business Officer at Charnock CE Primary School until I retired in 2017. In my spare time I have been a Guide Guider for 23 years, helping young girls have fun and fulfil their potential. I also enjoy the outdoors, regularly getting my fix of ‘Blue and Green’, my husband and I can often be seen walking the lanes and fields around Euxton enjoying the beautiful village we live in. When possible we travel and enjoy a good holiday, though during 2020 like many this has been extremely limited I’m interested in helping the environment and ensuring Euxton remains the lovely place to live we all know and love.

Katrina joined the Council in April 2011, and was re-elected at the May 2014 and May 2018 elections. I moved to Euxton 2 years ago, in time for the worst Winter for a long time. I will have been married 46 years next January and have 3 adult children and 5 grandsons ages 24 to 4, my best achievements ever! We moved to Euxton to be close to my son and daughter in law to help with Grandma 'duties', l moved from a small village in Cheshire just 6 miles from Chester. A big move for us but no regrets and have found my neighbours, and Euxton people in general, to be friendly and helpful in all aspects of day to day living. I enjoy reading, walking, gardening, swimming, baking, keeping hens in my back garden, holidays at 'Centre Parks' with Tony and my family. I am now semi retired but my job was as audit clerk and book keeper, first for a firm of Accountants and latterly for a software company in Macclesfield. After being made redundant in December 1999, have since been part of a small graphic design and printing company where I am Company Secretary and book keeper etc, working from home, ah the wonders of the wwweb. I became involved with the Parish Council after attending for some 18 months the meetings as a member of the public, my initial reason being the Pear Tree Green recreation proposal, now that has been resolved my next concern is the proposed development on the fields along Euxton Lane. After getting over being the new girl on the block I am now in the swing of things attending training sessions and joining working groups etc, very aware of the trust that the people of Euxton have placed on their Parish Councillors to help maintain the 'rural' feel of Euxton despite being so close to Chorley and the motorways.

Aidy was first elected to the Council in January 2013 and again at the May 2014 elections. My wife is originally from Chorley and we were married at Shaw Hill Golf and Country Club in 2009, moving to Buckshaw Village in April 2011. We have two young children and the village suits our family life perfectly. My family is the most important thing to me and I am keen to support and look after the community where we live, to ensure all our children grow up in a safe, happy and healthy environment. Being part of the community has always meant a lot to me. I enjoy taking part in community events, volunteering at skip days, litter picking and attending PACT meetings. As a Trustee and volunteer at Buckshaw Youth Association (recently becoming Chairman) I spend my Friday evenings at Buckshaw Village Community Centre with the rest of the team during term time. I really enjoy supporting, representing and helping all the constituents in my ward. I spend a lot of my spare time assisting people through the contacts and relationships I have made. I genuinely believe in everyone working together for the benefit of the community

Dez was elected to the Parish Council in May 2018. I was born in Preston and I have lived in Euxton all my life, over 60 years (so far). 25 years in Euxton Northwest and 35 years in Euxton South. I worked for the Fire and Rescue Service in Lancashire for 38 years serving at Skelmersdale, Chorley, Leyland, Preston and the Headquarters at Fulwood. My last 5 years of service were at Washington Hall here in Euxton working for the Northwest regional fire services to deliver enforcement fire safety training. I semi-retired 2 years ago but still deliver fire safety training on a part-time basis to fire and rescue authorities and other commercial clients, now working for myself. I am currently an ‘out of trade member’ of the Fire Brigades Union. My focus for Euxton is public safety. Fire safety is my speciality; however, other safety critical aspects of living are a principal concern. I would be happy to talk to any resident of Euxton to endeavour to reduce their risk profile.

Vyn was elected on to the Council in 2010, he was re-elected in May 2014 but unsuccessful at the May 2018 election but was co-opted back on to the Council in March 2019. I have lived in Euxton for the past thirty years and retired in 2012. During my working life I was a civil engineer and project manager, most of it dealing with big road schemes for the Highways Agency (as it was then - now Highways England). My interests for the main part lie outdoors. We have a large garden on the edge of the village which seems to get larger as I get older. Gerry, my wife, and I enjoy watching the wildlife that frequents the garden. Unfortunately, as in many other parts of Euxton, the fields next to our house have now been developed for housing and we have swapped the deer for houses and streetlights. I still do a fair bit of walking but, another result of advancing age, the walks become shorter and less arduous and only happen in dry weather. I am generally interested in the wider environment – nature, history, architecture etc, whether on foot or on trips out in the car. Indoors I am the household chef and get great enjoyment from preparing food and even more from eating it, especially when accompanied by the odd drop of wine. I have been a parish councillor since 2019 and, before that, from 2010 to 2018. My particular interests as a councillor are in the local environment, seeking to preserve what is good about Euxton and, if possible, improving it. Euxton will continue to be subject to pressure for new development and I will do what I can to resist over development and to help make new development fit as best as possible into the village

I was born in Bolton where I have lived for many years. I spent six plus in the armed services where one visited many places. I have three daughters all married, one step daughter and a step son, all with loving families which I am very proud of. I started my own business and ran it for 30+ years. A year last September I sold it as a going concern to a company which now runs it from the Midlands, still having an input from time to time or when the need arises. In 1992 I became a Magistrate sitting in Wigan, Manchester and Tameside, I still hold the position to date. We moved to Euxton in September last year and since we have been here we have found the people and area delightful. I became a Parish Councillor this year to get involved with the local community to assist and help in any way possible.

Steve was elected to the Parish Council in May 2018. Steve is from Chorley as were his parents. After living in London and studying in Salford, he and his wife Sue settled in Euxton 40 years ago. They raised their three children, who all attended Euxton Balshaw Lane Primary School and Parklands High School. Steve worked in Children’s Social Care for 36 years before becoming a selfemployed Trainer and continues in this role to date. After becoming Treasurer to the PTFA of Balshaw Lane Primary School, Steve served as a Governor of this school for 8 years and was Vice Chair for part of this time. As work commitments have lessened in recent years, Steve has been able to take time to develop an interest in the community which has been home to him and his family for so long. He was elected to the Parish Council on 3 May 2018 and is honoured and proud to represent the people of Euxton. Steve believes strongly that Euxton people should have a voice and be able to influence and shape decisions through their local representatives. It is Steve’s belief that the people of Euxton should have a safe, clean and healthy environment in which all people of all ages can live peaceful and fulfilling lives.

Barry was elected to the Parish Council in May 2018. One feels humbled by the privilege of selection to serve on the Parish Council and the chance to contribute to the Euxton community. Moving around for work, I’ve lived previously in a variety of towns and cities much varied in character and community. We came to Euxton nine years ago. After twenty years working in local government, a couple of years as a member of an independent whole food co-operative, and then as a mature student I spent several years as a research student before ill-health intervened. While working in the public sector I served as a union workplace representative. As a cyclist both commuting and touring my role as a cycling club secretary also embraced campaigning for cyclists’ rights. Latterly, as a wheelchair user an interest about accessibility issues is inevitable. For example, when out and about: lack of adequate dropped kerbs to enable safer road crossing is a perennial problem; as are vehicles parked over dropped kerbs; absence of raised kerbs at bus stops can also be an issue. For worship, we attend Chorley Quaker meeting and endeavour to be an active part locally in the life and service of the Religious Society of Friends. Reading is an abiding attraction: for continuing theological study; and a fascination with crime fiction especially that originating from the ‘Golden Age of Murder’ (with thanks to the staff in Euxton library for their wonderful help)

Joan was elected to the Parish Council in May 2018. I have lived in Euxton for over 9 years and feel adopted here by the friendly folk. I was born in East Lancashire in Burnley but have lived in other parts of the country, once on the other side of the Pennines! Most of my working life has been spent in the public sector although I have worked for private companies too. Fortunately, whilst student grants were available, I was able to complete a BA hons degree and went on to study for a Master’s degree which I self funded by teaching English as a Foreign Language. I have taught in this subject area both at College and University level. Volunteering at an Advice Centre, I was a client advisor and helped train new volunteer advisors, work vital for community, enabling people to have confidence to progress issues themselves. Now retired from paid work, I feel able to give time to the community I live in. Having both used libraries and worked in one, keeping our library open is high on my list of priorities. Euxton Library is such an asset for all residents. I am a member of The Religious Society of Friends in Chorley and serve in various roles. These include Pastoral matters, facilitating various groups and contributing to the wider body of Pendle Hill Quakers. Dance, keep fit classes, reading and walking Willow, my neighbour’s dog, in the tranquil beauty of Ransnap Wood are other pursuits I enjoy. I am also a member of Unison Retired Members Group having served as a union representative in my work life. It is humbling to have been selected to serve on the Parish Council and I am looking forward to learning from other Councillors to be able to do justice to the role.
